This is Where I Was Hoping to End Up Up
Yesterday I was reading the newspaper (yes, I still get one daily) and saw the headline"This is where I was hoping to end up”.Now, the article had nothing to do with this website material but it got me thinking. Can I honestly say that this is where I wanted to end up financially, physically, mentally and spiritually?
For 42 years I belonged to an organization that celebrated every five years of your membership and included in their newsletter a write-up on you. Right after hitting each milestone, I would sit down and plan out what I wanted to see printed in the newsletter for my next 5-year milestone. I retired from that organization and sadly, for some reason I also retired from my five-year goal planning.
After a lot of thought, I honestly can’t say “This is where I was hoping to end up”. I could have done things better, I could have done things differently and I could have avoided doing some things at all. But this is where I am today.
Luckily, I haven’t hit the stage of “ending up” and I can still work towards being the person I was hoping to be. I’m going back to my goal planning with the Motivating Force being "what do I want my kids to know I did at the end of the next one and three years". Time to get moving again.
